The Seidel family originally settled in Holyoke, Massachusetts then moved to Massachusetts , Vermont, Connecticut, Illinois and Missouri in the USA. Below is a timeline of this migration.

In the 1860's, after the father died of fever, the mother of the family and some children moved to Missouri and settled in the area near Rolla, MO in Phelps County. This area has many relatives still in that area. Some grandchildren moved to the Mount Vernon, Illinois area where they raised their families, so that "colony" has grown to a large population of family members. We have close relatives in Arkansas and a small group in the central Missouri area, too. Several other extended relatives from two lines of the family moved to Florida. Some others are probably still in the St. Louis, MO area. The newest generations are scattered all over the United States.
