Seidels of Missouri (MO) and Illinois (IL) who are descendents of Augustavus Seidel and extended family members

Augustavus Herman Seidel was born in Chemnitz in the Saxony area of Germany on August 10, 1854. Around the age of 4, he came to America with his family heading to Massachusetts.
The family lived in Massachusetts until about 1867 working as weavers in the textile mills.
Augustavus, three sisters, brother-in-law, and his mother moved to Missouri after his father died. His mother, Agnes Caroline Seidel, homesteaded a piece of property in Phelps County, MO. Gustavus helped his mother and then he homesteaded his own with his bride, Mary Ann Turner. He improved his land until his tragic death switching trains during the Lewis and Clark Exhibition World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri on August 16, 1904. He, Mary Ann, Agnes and sister and brother-in-law are buried in Pea Ridge/Roach Cemetery in Phelps County, MO near the original homestead. Many descendents in the family are buried there near I-44 at Doolittle, MO in Phelps County, MO. We are from this family.
